While day boarding is a convenient option for our busy pet parents, it is also important to your dog’s overall well-being. Dogs need physical exercise and mental stimulation for maximum overall health. Without it, they tend to get into trouble. Pups that are at home all day may become bored, lethargic and may even destroy furniture or belongings. This is where we at Canal Bark can help.
Our day boarding guests enjoy regular exercise breaks with loving staff members, plenty of human attention, and lots of time to relax in our premium canine accommodations. We also offer an Enhanced Day Boarding program, with structured games, playtime, and training exercises to keep your pet’s mind and body extra busy.
Regular visits offer unmatched benefits to your dog's physical health, mental well-being, and quality of life. For those who like to make the most of our exciting day program, we offer various discounted packages full of fun. Call us today to find out more!
Does your dog have a birthday coming up? Canal Bark will throw a doggie birthday party complete with tons of fun, treats and photos for your dog and his canine friends! We also host fun & festive holiday celebrations, like our annual Howl-o-ween party. Call us today to learn more!
Proper socialization with other dogs and other humans is critical to having a happy, healthy, and well-adjusted pet. With many people spending more time away from home, your furry family member may now be home alone for long periods of the day for the first time in a while. The stress of solitude can cause anti-social habits such as destructive chewing, persistent digging, excessive barking, or other signs of separation anxiety. Pets may also show signs of stress such as drooling, attempts to escape, and pacing.
If your pet is suffering from separation anxiety or simply the boredom of home isolation after many months of company, bring them to daycare with us! Day boarding provides your loved one with the pack environment dogs are accustomed to, creating a trusted second home for your pet while you are away. Bringing your pup to day boarding with us provides all the physical, mental, and social exercise your dog needs. Give us a call to learn more about the socialization benefits of day boarding.
Puppies have special needs beyond that of an adult dog. Our Puppy Day Boarding places heavy emphasis on socialization, desensitization, and exposure to new things during your puppy’s critical learning. Call us to find out more!
● Provides dogs with regular exercise to stay healthy
● Relieves boredom, separation anxiety, and destructive behavior at home
● Improves socialization with other dogs and people
● Day boarding is a safer way to play. Each day boarding dog has their own enclosure space in our lodging area so they can relax between play times. Our play groups are supervised by staff that are trained in dog behavior.
Yes, tours are available Monday-Friday 8am-3pm. Please call or email to schedule.
● Given safety and facility size, our daycare programs work on a day boarding model. All dogs are assigned a homebase enclosure for the day then have potty breaks and play times scheduled through the day. They are not out all day long. Some dogs play in groups and for others individual playtime with toys with staff is more appropriate. Some dogs (particularly senior dogs) prefer to spend their time in the play area cuddling with staff and getting petted. We chose our dog play groups by energy level, size and play style. If your dog becomes a regular, they likely will develop playgroup friends.
● Schedule: The day starts with a potty break on arrival, rotations through morning play groups, lunch/rest, afternoon rotation of play groups, then preparation for check out. Puppy day boarding has its own unique schedule to reinforce potty training and socialization-- our reservation specialist can provide more information (218) 503 9699 or info@canalbark.com.
● Because of the often challenging weather in Duluth, we have both indoor and outdoor play areas for the dogs. Our indoor play areas have special matting to ease wear and tear on your dog’s paws and joints. We have fun obstacles like ramps and tunnels in our play areas. Our outdoor areas have a wading pool when weather permits. Staff are always with the playgroups to supervise and provide interaction.
Dogs must be up to date on rabies, the DHPP combo vaccine, and bordetella. You can email copies to info@canalbark.com or ask your vet to email them to us directly.
Day boarding dogs should be dropped off Monday-Friday between 7-9am and picked up between 4-6pm. On Saturday-Sunday, day boarding dogs should be dropped off between 8-10am and picked up between 4-6pm. We are currently operating on valet/curbside service, so we will watch for you to pull up in your vehicle and will come out to greet you. If you arrive outside of these hours the doors are locked because we are in the back focusing on the dogs.
