During our most in-demand boarding timeframes, a $5/night per pet Peak Season Pricing charge will be added to all boarding reservations. Peak season dates include any major holidays and local school breaks.

● Group or Private Play. Whether your dog is a social butterfly or a bit shy, there’s a supervised play option for him. If he prefers the company of humans, one of our loving caregivers will shower him in personal attention and customized playtime.
Dogs must be up to date on rabies, the DHPP combo vaccine, and Bordetella. You can email copies to info@canalbark.com or ask your vet to email them to us directly.
We have morning and evening hours for pick up and drop off. If you arrive outside of these hours the doors are locked because we are in the back focusing on the dogs.
Our pick up / drop off hours are:
Mon - Fri: 7-9am and 4-6pm
Sat - Sun: 8-10am and 4-6pm

At Canal Bark, we pride ourselves on offering the best pet care services in the Duluth area. Our highly trained and certified staff regularly check on your furry family member. Plus, we’re all pet lovers! So your pet will be loved and adored just like he would be at home. If you give us permission to play with other dogs during their stay, we will do our best to put them in an appropriate play group. Our top priority is safety and fun for the dogs, so if we don’t have proper playmates for your dog they will have playtime (or cuddle/petting time if they prefer) with our staff.
Dogs are out for potty breaks every 3-4 hours. Dogs who have signed up for one of our packages will also have playtimes and activity times during the day based on their package type. We recommend one of the play packages for your dog for them to have the best (and most fun) possible experience, particularly for puppies and energetic dogs.
A trial stay before your first booking isn’t needed. The dogs settle in well to our routine and relax more and more each day. Give a call at 218-464-4122 and they’ll be happy to give you more information and book your dog’s stay.
Yes. If your pets are used to being together and can safely be together at meal times they are welcome to stay together. If they are better separated during meals, we recommend separate enclosures for their stay, but we are happy to have them together for potty breaks and any schedules play times.
We can accommodate pets with special needs, including medications, allergies, movement restrictions, senior dogs, etc. Please be sure to discuss your pet’s needs when booking your pet’s stay.
If your pet has prescription medications, please provide them in your pet’s respective prescription containers, along with clear directions, and our staff will administer it. We have a system with multiple checks in place to ensure your pet’s medications are correctly administered.
Of course! We recommend that you send your pet’s food along to avoid diet changes and tummy upsets. Please bag and label each meal separately. You should only send enough food for their stay (though a little extra is fine). Please do not send large food bags or containers. Each dog has a cubby space for belongings and the space doesn’t accommodate large containers. If you don’t send food or don’t send enough food to follow your feeding directions, we will provide Nutrisource dry food at an equivalent amount at $5 per day.
Absolutely. It’s important for your pet to feel at home here, so you are more than welcome to bring his favorite toy. We just ask that you limit the number of toys/items to just a few of their favorite toys. One favorite is typically plenty. We provide bedding and food and water dishes. You are welcome to send along a favorite blanket if your dog isn’t a shredder.
Please inform us immediately if your plans change so that we can use the space to accommodate other guests. We may require deposits for future bookings for clients that are no shows on the day of their reservation.
